The concept behind ‘Sunset Phase’

Imagine you wake up to an ordinary day, get prepared and start working on your responsibilities, whether it is work or school or anything else… Then you reach the end of the afternoon and your most responsible work ends around that time as well. You are exhausted after all the work pressure you may have gotten yourself into, and need to relax your mind before the cycle continues the next day. You start to move to things that give you freedom, relaxation and pleasure after spending time in this complex world of responsibilities. You want to move to simpler stuff.

My escape from this complexity was going for long walks at the beginning of evenings, the time when sunset would occur to prepare for the night. I would put my headphones on and start listening to my favourite music while walking under a sunset atmosphere. I would drive my attention away from all the work I did through that day, and move it towards the music. That action would also inspire me with many musical ideas waiting to be realised one day. This escape into the simple world of “music” in that moment after the previous complex world led me to a new world that I could dive into and get lost in it, and this was how Sunset Phase was born.

While working with many genres in electronic music, the music of Sunset Phase does not fundamentally focus on a genre or rhythmic style. It focuses primarily on mood. Sunset Phase explores the notions of chillout, nostalgia and melancholy in many different ways. The music tries to pull the listener into these notions and make them feel these ‘emotions’ with this conceptual and auditory storytelling.

Primarily influenced by electronic artists such as Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, Burial, Com Truise and HOME, Sunset Phase’s current discography includes 3 albums, 1 EP and 3 standalone singles since its birth in 2020 until now. The 3 albums, which I describe them collectively as “the blissful trilogy”, focuses on building on the previous ideas in each album starting with the initial vibes of the first album “A Forgotten Tape” and experimenting with them in the following sequel albums: “Nostalgic Tides” and “The Blissful Dawn”.

At the time of writing this post, I have already started working on my fourth album and my most ambitious musical project to date under this concept, which will dive deeper into my personal experience with music and therefore will mean a lot to me. I have learned a lot about my musical creations during the Blissful Trilogy phase, and I will continue with improving my sounds every time, both technically and musically from now on. Expect to hear more about the upcoming album very soon. For now, you can check out my released work using the links at the right side of this website.

Thank you for checking out my music, and I hope I can make you dive into a pleasant and relaxing journey with my compositions under this project.
